Scotland girls suffer UK School Games heartache while boys are thumped
Scotland under-18 girls fell at the final hurdle at the UK School Games and were forced to settle for silver after a disappointing defeat to England in Cardiff.
The Scots had been in superb form in Wales, downing both the hosts and Northern Ireland, but met their match in England, who ran out 5-3 winners.
Georgia Rawlinson was Scotland's tormentor, netting on no less than four occasions, as Scottish goals from Heather Elder and two from Anna Thompson were not enough to seal victory.
Meanwhile, in the boy's event, Scotland did not fare so well and failed to chalk up any points across the three-day competition.
They finished the tournament on the wrong end of an 8-1 hiding, with George Black grabbing Scotland's solitary goal.
In total, the Scots slumped to three defeats, conceding 18 goals in the process as Wales took gold three victories from their three matches.
