Boss Joss upbeat despite defeat

Scottish women were on the wrong end of a 4-0 spanking against current European champions Germany at EuroHockey in Amsterdam today.

The defeat means the Scots finished third in Pool B in Holland and will now face either Azerbaijan or Russia from Pool A on Thursday.

And Scotland coach Keith Joss insisted he felt more than a little hard done to after the 4-0 reverse.

“I don’t think it was a 4-0 game; we performed better than the score reflects. We created good chances particularly in the first half,” said Joss.

“We went into a bit of a spell in the second half and played too deep, which allowed them to make the most of their opportunities.

“Overall though, we performed well against one of the best teams in the world and if we continue at this standard will be in for a top six finish.”
