Bonagrass finish fifth after final-day demolition

Bonagrass Grove captain Linda Clement insists her side will not leave the Euro Hockey League empty-handed next year, after a 15-0 demolition job on HC Alta Borispol saw them finish fifth.

Grove - who won all 14 of their domestic matches this season to complete the indoor and outdoor double - were a class above their Ukrainian opposition with Ali Bell netting five and Nikki Kidd notching four.

The Scots' chances of a Cup Winners' Cup medal were over before today, after winning only one of their three of their matches against HF Lorenzoni.

But Clement is adamant her troops will be on the medal trail next season, courtesy of their European adventure in Manchester.

"There's no doubting that when we come back to a European competition next year, we?ll be after a medal," said Clement.

"As we proved against Alta, we can be just too good and too quick for some European teams and with another year under our belts I'm sure we'll improve.

!We had a job to do but we were very professional. They began the second half a lot more disciplined and organised but it didn't take us long to break them down again."

Also on the score-sheet for Bonagrass was Louise Carroll, who set the ball rolling with the first of the match on two minutes.

Lindsey Glass grabbed two late goals, adding to strikes Jen Wright. Ailsa Robertson and a fine flowing move that ended with a goal from Kat Cameron.
