Kenny Bain hat-trick secures second victory for Cougars in Super League
Kelburne forward Kenny Bain chalked up a stunning hat-trick as the Caledonian Cougars picked up their second victory of the Great Britain Super League to finish third.
The 19-year-old was in superb finishing form as his side eased to victory over the Saxon Tigers, as Alan Forsyth and Gareth Hall also found the net in a 5-2 victory, erasing memories of Saturday's defeat to the Celtic Panthers.
Bain opened his account on seven minutes with a superb strike into top corner after the young Great Britain international was picked out by Forsyth.
Just seven minutes later it was Forsyth, another Kelburne star, who found himself on the scoresheet, rolling the ball home from close range.
The Tigers hit back and bombarded the Cougars' goal with eight penalty corners with Nick Caitlin and Jonny Kinder the only two able to beat inspired stopper Ali McGregor.
And once the Scottish outfit had weathered the storm, it was not long before they were back in front, as Hall rammed the ball home on the stroke of half-time.
Soon after the break Bain had his second with a superbly executed chip and he rounded off in style with a fierce low drive.
Elsewhere, Cammy Fraser's equaliser for the Highland Jaguars ensured his side picked up a 3-3 draw to finish fifth, while in the women's event, goals from Julia Bryce and Vikki Bunce helped the Caledonian Cougars to a 2-1 win in the third-place play-off.
