Cougars claim first Super League win over Scottish counterparts
Chris Nelson's late strike fired the Caledonian Cougars to their first Great Britain Super League win and secured his side the Scottish bragging rights over the Highland Jaguars.
The Kelburne ace struck with just 11 minutes left on the clock to hand his side a hard-fought 3-2 victory and restore pride to the Cougars, who had previously slumped to 4-2 and 4-0 defeats.
The victory puts the Cougars up to fourth in the table, level on goal difference with the Jaguars, and six points behind both the Pennine Pumas and the Wessex Leopards.
It was the Cougars who took an early lead as Western Wildcats? Douglas Simpson rifled home a penalty corner after just five minutes.
That lead did not last long however and Inverlieth?s Adam McKenzie levelled proceedings just six minutes later.
Another Wildcat Vishal Marwaha restored the Cougars? lead but Cammy Fraser grabbed his second goal of the competition to bring the scores level at 2-2.
The Jaguars pressed for a winner to capture their second victory of the competition, but Nelson had other ideas and fired his side to a valuable win.
