Double from Stephen Dick fires Highland Jaguars to victory
Stephen Dick's sparkling double helped the Highland Jaguars bounce back from their opening match defeat and kept their hopes of Great Britain Super League glory alive.
The Scotland and Great Britain forward notched twice from penalty corners as his side came from behind to beat the Saxon Tigers 3-2 to put them third in the table after six matches.
Cammy Fraser gave the Jaguars the perfect start, when he fired home as early as the first minute, but the Tigers roared back with goals from Johnny Kinder and Simon Faulkner.
But Dick then stepped to the fore and fired home twice to erase memories of the Jaguars opening match 4-1 defeat to the Wessex Leopards.
There was no such joy for the Caledonian Cougars, who having sunk to a 4-2 defeat to the Pennine Pumas, who currently top the table, were thrashed 4-0 by the Wessex Leopards.
In the women's event, the Caledonian Cougars made a bright start with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the Celtic Panthers, courtesy of Laura Bartlett's penalty corner.
But they were no match for the Pennine Pumas, who also top the women's table after two games, as they sunk to a crushing 6-0 defeat.
The action continues tomorrow with the Caledonian Cougars entertaining the Highland Jaguars at Peffermill, before another two rounds of matches over the weekend at Cannock HC.
