GB lose out

Scot Chris Mohr scored seven goals but could not prevent the Great Britain Under-21 team losing 35-24 to Iceland in their World Championship qualifying group in Emmen, Holland.

The result meant GB missed out on this summer's finals in Egypt but head coach Bill Baillie, another Scot, was proud of the way his team performed.

“Iceland are a top nation, and will prove to be one of the favourites in the finals in Egypt later this year, so for us to run them so close was impressive,” he said.

“For 25 minutes we were only behind by two goals, and after tiring a little bit in the second half, adrenaline really kicked in and we fought back well.

“We came out of the blocks well, better than in the first two games, and turned in a good all-round team performance which the lads can be proud of.”

Mohr had scored six goals earlier in the tournament in the 36-25 defeat by Holland.
