Leigh targets Commonwealth berth

Teenage gymnast Hannah Leigh has set her sights on representing Scotland at next year’s Commonwealth Games in India.

The 15-year-old from Kirkcaldy is part of the initial Scottish gymnastics squad that will train for the 2010 Games, set to take place in New Delhi.

As part of the squad Leigh will travel to Largs once a month to take part in specialist training before the final squad is picked next year.

"It would mean so much to me to make it to India it would be a great achievement,” said Leigh, who is one of nine gymnasts in the squad that will be narrowed down for the Games.

"I've been to Slovenia and Belgium for gymastics competitions, but this would be by far the biggest thing I've ever done.

“I've been picked for something really major so I want to put everything into it and try to be a success."
