Keatings bids to become best of British in London
Scot Danny Keatings will be out to make his mark at this week’s British Gymnastics Championships at Goresbrook Lesiure Centre in London.
With the World Championships taking place at London’s O2 Arena next October, it is a chance for all the British competitors to attract a capital audience, and heading the list will be Keatings’ clubmate, Louis Smith.
Smith won a bronze medal on the Pommel Horse at the Olympic Games in Beijing, while Keatings made the all-round final. The tw Huntingdon men will be big rivals over the weekend.
With gymnastics enjoying a Beijing boom – there is a record entry of 230 gymnasts - the event will include a "gymnastics taster session" for local school children on Friday 31st October.
“ I love competing at the British Championships in front of a home crowd,” said Keatings. “The only had major event since I came back from the Olympics was the Grand Prix in Glasgow and I didn’t do too well. But this weekend will be a great test.
