Keatings sneaks in the back door of World Cup Final in Madrid
When Danny Keatings fell off the pommel horse during the Glasgow Grand Prix at the Kelvin Hall last month he thought his chance of making next month’s World Cup Final in Madrid had disappeared.
But the 18-yar-old Scot, who made the Olympic all-round final in Beijing, has been named as one of the reserves and could yet earn a place on the plane to Spain.
Louis Smith, the Olympic bronze medallist and on of Keatings’ team mates at the Huntingdon Club in Cambridgeshire, has made the grade for Madrid as third qualifier on the pommel horse.
Beth Tweddle was the second Briton to qualify automatically – but the former world championship medallist has had to pull out of the floor as she is to undergo a shoulder operation.
