Great young Scots

Scottish gymnastics enjoyed a successful string of results at the Celtic Cup in Perth with pride of place going to Falkirk’s 11-year-old Stephen Tonge.

A member of the British training squad, the Bonnybridge Primary School pupil won individual gold and led Scotland to victory in the under-13 event at Bell’s Sports Centre.

His team mates were Reece Dall, Rob Keys, Ross Barrett, Cameron Dunsmore and Kelvin Cham.

In the other three age-groups, Scotland, facing teams from Wales, Northern Ireland and Ireland, all finished second and the teams were as follows:

Boys’ under-17: Ryan McKee, Liam Davie, Ryan Sloan, Douglas Ross, Grant Millar and James Griffin.

Girls’ Under-16: Jordan Lipton, Tori Simpson, Kirsty Campbell, Amy Regan, Megan Slater, Robyn Russell.

Girls’ Under-13: Rachel Melrose, Eilidh Craig, Cara Kennedy, Carly Smith, Allanah Bunyan, Aimee Bryan.
