Glasgow welcomes Acrobatic Spectacular

Glasgow will spring into life next week when the city plays host to one of the most prestigious and spectacular sporting events on the planet – the World Acrobatic Gymnastic Championships.

The event will see Glasgow host the largest gathering of elite gymnasts since the 2008 Beijing Olympics, welcoming 500 athletes from 31 countries as the tournament comes of age – it will be celebrating its 21st Birthday from 3rd – 12th October.

An electric atmosphere and non-stop aerial acrobatic action for all the family is assured when gymnasts from as far afield as Australia, USA and the Ukraine somersault and cartwheel into world class competition at the city’s Kelvin Hall Arena. Teams will be aiming to win one of the 18 world titles up for grabs.

The Great Britain team is among the competitors going for gold, though competition will be fierce with the reigning men’s pairs world champions from Ukraine and the women’s pairs champions from Belarus among their rivals.

From 3 - 5 October, the World Age-Group Championships, with participants aged between 11 and 19 will be the first to leap into action.

With prices starting from just £3, Glasgow’s hosting of the FIG World Acrobatic Championships promises to be the hottest ticket in town.

For full ticket details, with prices starting at just £3, please visit www.acro2008.com or call the ticket hotline on 08444 817 937.
