Keatings selected for British team to compete at World Championships
Scotland’s Olympic all-round finalist, Danny Keatings, has been selected for GB for the world Championships to be staged at the O2 Arena in London from October 13-18.
In what promises to be a huge occasion for the sport, Keatings recently joined Olympic medallist Louis Smith, former world champion Beth Tweddle and Becky Downie in a filming session with the BBC for the Championship’s apparatus guides and TV adverts.
Tweddle, the first Briton to ever win a world championship gold medal on the parallel bars in 2006, said: “This years Championships are a hugely exciting prospect, and as a lead up to London 2012 they are even more important.
“There will be so much attention on us and hearing the home crowd cheer will be a big boost to everyone. As soon as you get onto the podium you can hear the crowd and it just pushes you on to show them exactly what you can do.”
For 19-year-old Keatings, it is another chance to prove he is one of the world’s best. He has already won medals at European level. His specialist event is the pommel horse.
The gymnastic events at the London 2012 Olympics will also be held at the O2 Arena.
