Keatings excited by prospect of performing in front of home crowd
Scottish Olympian Danny Keatings is looking forward to making a rare outing at home in next week’s Glasgow Grand Prix and World Cup event at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow.
“This is going to be my first big competitive event since Beijing, and I am really looking forward to it,” said the 18-year-old, who did so well to finish 20th in the all-round competition at the Olympics.
“Just being in Beijing and competing for Team GB was a huge experience. To do so well made it even better.
“I’m already thinking about London 2012. It will be even more amazing taking part in an Olympic Games in your home country.”
In Glasgow, Keatings’ target will be to climb from his current tenth ranking and make the top eight for the World Cup Final in Madrid in December. “If I make the final, then I should do it,” he suggested.
His rivals in Glasgow will include his Huntingdon Clubmate Louis Smith, the current world and Olympic bronze medallist. and the three-time European Champion and last year’s world championship silver medallist, Krisztian Berky (Hungary).
