Chalk eyeing Delhi spot

Gymnast Christopher Chalk is convinced his Commonwealth dream is right on track after a podium finish at the Scottish Artistic Gymnastic Championships.

The 18-year-old has enjoyed an impressive season to date, finishing third in the apparatus section in the June event in Perth.

And Chalk, who trains at Falkirk School of Gymnastics, is hoping to carry on his good form for the rest of the season as he looks to qualify for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India.

He said: "This year is a big one for me. My biggest aim is to qualify for the Commonwealth Games and I have a big chance of doing that. My coach, Andrew Webbe, thinks I can do it so it is a real possibility.

"Starting the season off with the Scottish Championships was a big bonus but to qualify for the Commonwealth Games is the goal I am working towards and if it would be a dream come true to be selected.

"Fingers crossed I will qualify for the games and with them being in India it will add to how special it will be."
