Watson loses narrow tie

Sally Watson narrowly loses in matchplay stage at Women's Amateur Championship
Scotland’s Sally Watson lost by 2 and 1 to Aimee Neff (Indiana) in the first round of the US Women’s Amateur Championship at Old Warson Country Club in St Louis, Missouri.
The 18-year-old had comfortably come through the strokeplay qualifying, and it was a close tie all the way against the Michigan Sate University student.
Next month, Sally will be taking up a golf scholarship at Stanford University in California.
Sally’s Great Britain and Ireland team colleague – Jodi Ewart – survived a marathon tie, winning at the seventh extra hole against American Mallory Fraiche.
