Walker retains County Championship

Kylie Walker (Buchanan Castle), who won last year’s Scottish Ladies’ Association Order of Merit, retained the Dunbartonshire & Argyll County Championship at Hayston with a 3 and 1 win over 17-year-old Kirstin Scott (Milngavie).

It was Kylie’s third county title, and she said: “Kirstin played really well and it was a very close match. But it’s a god way to start the season and now I’m looking forwad to the Helen Holm Scottish Open Strokeplay Championship at Troon next weekend.”

At Glasgow Gailes, Lesley Hendry (Routenburn) scored her fourth win in five years in the Ayrshire Championshi. In the final, the experienced player beat surprise package Hannah Gaunt (Troon Ladies) by 4 and 3. Hannah has a nine handicap

Pitreavie’s Lousie Kenney, a Scottish internationalist, regained the Fife County championship  at Kirkcaldy after a 4 and 3 win over many-time winner, Lorna Bennett.

Keeney, a schoolteacher, also won the title in 2007 and was the beaten finalist last year.
