Vikki Laing given 72-holes to make grade for LPGA Tour
Scotland's Vikki Laing faces make or break in her quest to gain entry to the 2009 LPGA Tour at this week's pre-qualifying school in Florida.
The 26-year-old from Musselburgh suffered the heartbreak of missing a place in the final qualifying school by just one shot at the first pre-qualifying school in California.
Now she has to make the top 30 over 72-holes to have a chance of joining Scots Catriona Matthew, Janice Moodie and Mhairi McKay on the Tour next year.
Laing, who won a record four Scottish Girls' Championships and was one of Scotland's best ever amateurs, has struggled to make her way as a professional.
She had a non-exempt card but found it hard to get starts on the LPGA Tour in 2004 and 2005.
She then enjoyed the breakthrough of a win in Gettysburg on the 2006 US Futures Tour - she has played on the Futures for the past two seasons.
