Laing on track to achieve her goal

Scotland's Vikki Laing was on course to clear the first hurdle in her quest for a card for the 2009 LPGA Tour as she moved into the top 20 with a round to play in the pre-qualifying school at Mission Hills in California.
The only Scot in the field, the Musselburgh golfer shot a best of week third round 71 for level par 216 and needs to stay in the top 30 to earn a place to go forward to the final Qualifying School in Florida in December.
South Korea's Sun-Ju Ahn, the leader from round one, and Swedish amateur Anna Nordqvist led on 12 under par. The Scandinavian had a five under 67 and Ahn posted a 72.
Michelle Wie, the 18-year-old superstar, looked to be comfortably heading for the final qualifying after a third round 74 for seven under and outright fourth place.
Two other British players were in the top 30. Derbyshire's Melissa Reid was a shot ahead of Laing in a tie for 13th place and Wales' Solheim Cup player, Becky Brewerton, was tied for 28th on three over par.
