Sam Torrance seeking hat-trick of European honours in Czech Republic
Sam Torrance is determined nothing will stand in his way as he bids to complete a hat-trick of European Senior Order of Merit titles.
The 56-year-old won the Order of Merit in 2005 and 2006 before losing out to England’s Carl Mason in 2007 and his former Ryder Cup vice captain Ian Woosnam last year.
But Torrance –who is just £129 behind leader Mark McNulty of Ireland – knows he can all but secure the title with a win at Casa Serena Open in the Czech Republic later this month.
“It will be a very interesting run in to the end of the season now,” he said. “It was great for Woosie to win it last year but I want it back.
“I just really want to win it again and I’ll be playing every event now to give myself the best chance to do that.
“The next events in the Czech Republic is huge – if I go there and win that and it could all be over.”
