Queen sitting pretty in top ten after opening round
Scotland’s Clare Queen has not made the progress she hoped for in her third seasons on the Ladies’ European Tour, but she could still finish on a high note.
Competing for a first time in South Korea at the Saint Four Ladies’ Masters on Jeju Island, the Carrick golfer was in the top ten after an opening round of two under par 70.
One of the local stars – Sun ju Ahn – led on 65, while Gwladys Nocera, the French player aiming for a sixth win this season, was handily-placed in joint second on 68.
Queen had a solid round of four birdies and just one bogey and was the leading British player in joint ninth place and one shot ahead of England’s Sam Head.
But the other two Scots didn’t fare too well. Lynn Kenny and Jenna Wilson were both well down the field on six over par 78.
