Thomson, Caithness and Feggans all progress past halfway point
Krystle Caithness and Michele Thomson, both members of last year’s Curtis Cup team, shared the Scottish honours on level par 146 at the halfway stage of the £450,000 Deutsche Bank Swiss Open at Golf Gerre Losonne.
In miserable, rainy conditions, Caithness, the 20-year-old from St Regulus, followed her opening 71 with a 75, while Thomson had four second half birdies in a second successive 73.
The two rookies were tied for 38th place and were joined inside the cut line by a third rookie Scot, Pamela Feggans. The former US Futures Tour player from Patna in Ayrshire carded a 72 and made it into the top 69 for the weekend on the final mark of two over par.
Finland’s Jenni Kuosa shot a 70 for nine under 137 and led by two shots from Germany’s Nicole Gergely (69) and England’s Melissa Reid, who fired a 68 in her bid for a first Ladies’ European Tour title.
The other three Scots all missed the cut. Lynn Kenny was two strokes too many on four over par after a 72, Clare Queen had a 75 for six over and another Scottish rookie, Vikki Laing, shot a 79 for ten over.
