Watson, Walker and Pretswell included in GB and Ireland team for Vagliano Trophy
Sally Watson (Elie and Earlsferry), Kylie Walker (Buchanan Castle) and Pamela Pretswell (Bothwell Castle) are the three Scots named in a nine-strong GB and Ireland team to take on the Continent of Europe for the Vagliano Trophy in Hamburg next month.
Carly Booth (Comrie), who played in last year’s Curtis Cup at St Andrews, is one of the four reserves.
Sally, who will be 18 next month, and England’s Jodi Ewart are the only two to retain their places from last year’s Curtis Cup side.
The two headline grabbers in the team are the 14-year-old Irish twins, Leona and Lisa MaGuire. Leona won the Helen Holm Scottish Open Strokeplay Championship in April, while Lisa is the current Irish Women’s Amateur Champion.
Kylie, 22, secured her selection by retaining the St Rule Trophy at St Andrews this month, while Pamela, 20, led the qualifiers at the Scottish Women’s Amateur Championship and is the reigning Swiss Open Amateur Champion.
The full team is: Pamela Pretswell, Kylie Walker, Sally Watson (Scotland), Leona Maguire, Lisa Maguire, Danielle McVeigh (Ireland), Jodi Ewart, Rachel Jennings (England), Rhian Wyn Thomas (Wales)
