

Claire Hargan clinches sixth title in seven years in Midlothian county championships
Claire Hargan (Mortonhall) beat 15-year-old Gabrielle MacDonald (Craigielaw) 3 and 2 in the final at Newbattle to win the Midlothian county championship for an impressive sixth time in seven years.
Gabrielle was three up after only four holes, but 32-year-old Claire won five of the next six holes, was two up at the turn and never lost control.
Claire was runner-up in the 2003 Scottish Women’s Championship at St Andrews and is currently the team manager for the Scottish under-16 team.
She had won the Midlothian title for five years in a row before losing out to Rachael Livingstone last year.
In the semi-finals, Gabrielle won by two holes against Karen Marshall (Baberton) while Claire beat her young Mortonhall clubmate, Rachael Watton, by 4 and
