Scottish ladies in action in USA and Europe
Scotland’s Catriona Matthew was six shots behind Solheim Cup team mate Sophie Gustafson after an opening 71 at the CVS Pharmacy LPGA Challenge at Blackhawk in California.
Matthew started at the tenth and had a couple of birdies before hitting a bleak run of three birdies in four holes from the turn. But the Ricoh Women’s British Open Champion hit back with another couple of late gains.
Matthew was the leading British player, while the second Scot in the field, Janice Moodie, was on 73.
On the Ladies’ European Tour, Vikki Laing was the best of the Scots on one under par at the Tenerife Ladies’ Open. The rookie trailed six shots behind Germany’s Anje Monke.
Lynn Kenny was the next of the Scots on 74 with Clare Queen and Krystle Caithness both on 75 and Pamela Feggans on 77.
