Scots Walker and Booth in pole position for Euro Tour card
Scottish teenager Carly Booth was in the top ten after a second round level par 73 over the South course and well on her way to success at the weather hit Ladies’ European Tour qualifying school at La Manga in Spain.
Snow and heavy rain wiped out play in Saturday, but Comrie’s 17-year-old Booth, aiming to become Scotland’s youngest ever tournament professional, ignored the interruption to pick up three birdies and moved into joint ninth place at halfway on three under par.
Buchanan Castle’s Kylie Walker was also well-placed for one of the 30 cards on offer for the 2010 season. She had three birdies and three bogeys in a 73 and was tied for 17th place on one under par.
With 36 holes to play, Clare Queen and Pamela Feggans, who both played on Tour this year but failed to hold on to full cards, were outside the magic number. Queen had a 75 for two over par and was in a tie for 35th spot, while Feggans slipped to a 79 and was joint 56th.
After the third round, the top 50 players and ties will make it through to the final 18holes. Booth and Walker have both entered the tournament as amateurs so that if they don’t win cards they will be available for next year’s Curtis Cup.
