Saltman promises to come back stronger after Formby capitulation
Elliot Saltman insists he will bounce back stronger despite throwing away a golden victory opportunity at the PGA EuroPro Tour's Formby Hall Classic.
The Lothians star roared to a course-record 65 to lead on day one in Liverpool but failed to recreate that on day two with a two-over par round of 75.
Just a shot behind leader Tim Dykes, Saltman was still the bookies favourites going into the final round but a two over par 74 left him three shots behind winner Englishman Tom Haylock.
"I'm a bit gutted, to be honest," the 27-year-old said. "But every penny counts and I am still feeling really good about my game, so it is on to the next event next week."
Elliot's brother Lloyd, who closed with a 72, was a shot behind his brother, with Lee Harper (+2), John Gallagher (+6) and Andrew Oldcorn (+9) further down the field.
