Elliot Saltman lets go of lead at Formby Hall Classic - but still all to play for
Elliot Saltman surrendered his lead on the second day of the PGA EuroPro Tour's Formby Hall Classic – but the 27-year-old is still in hunt just one shot behind leader Tim Dykes.
Saltman was the talk of the town after a course-record 65 on day one but failed to recreate that on day two with a two-over par round of 75.
For Wrexham’s Dykes a one-under par 71 was enough to earn him a one shot lead on 138 with Saltman – who entered the tournament fourth in the order of merit - on 139.
Despite losing his lead Saltman remains the bookies favourite to take the title and a win which would could lift him to the top of the order of merit.
Cardross rookie Scott Henry carded a 72 to share fourth on 141 and Archerfield’s Lee Harper is very much in the running after a three under par 69 lifted him to 142.
Saltman’s brother Lloyd put a nightmare opening round of 75 behind him with a four-under par 68 – enough to lift him into the top ten.
