Youngster Ross McDonald finishes well in Wee Wonders at St Andrews
Golf rookie Ross McDonald more than held his own to finish a creditable 20th at the HSBC Wee Wonders Grand Final at St Andrews at the weekend.
The ten-year-old from Irvine was making his second appearance at the home of golf after booking his spot thanks to an impressive qualifying display at The Ladies Golf Club in Troon earlier in the summer.
And despite a fierce wind battering the home of golf McDonald, who plays at Troon Welbeck Golf Club, insists the experience has helped him take a step closer to realising his dream of becoming a professional in the future.
"I was a bit nervous when I teed off because everyone was watching but it was another fantastic experience," said McDonald.
"The wind made it really difficult on the first day and that was hard but I enjoyed it.
"The plan is to one day be a professional golfer. Phil Mickleson is my favourite player and I would love to try and do what he has done."
