Ramsay considers move abroad after impressive Italian opener
Scotlands Riche Ramsay revealed he is weighing up a move abroad to further his golfing career after an impressive opening round four-under-par left him well placed at the Italian Open.
The 25-year-old has had a taste of competing on the highest stage at the US Masters and the Open Championship, having become the first Scotland-based US amateur champion.
But having dropped three strokes in the closing holes which robbed him of the lead in Turin, Ramsay believes it may be time to move to pastures new.
"I have considered basing myself outside Scotland for a few years now," he said. "I love the country, but definitely with regards to late and early season it's worth considering.
"If I had a short game like Seve Ballesteros I would have been fine.
"Playing with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Padraig Harrington, I noticed a common factor that they are all lethal with their short games. They are not the straightest drivers in the world but they know how to get the ball into the hole."
Ramsay's most likely destination could be Atlanta, having won the Georgia Cup at the Golf Club of Georgia two years ago.
