Ramsay thrilled after securing European Tour card

Richie Ramsay insists he can compete with the European Tour big guns after he finished tied for fourth at the Dunhill Links Championship and secured his card for next season.

The 26-year-old carded a final round 69 to finish four shots behind winner Simon Dyson and his career-high cheque of £134,677 moved him comfortably inside the top 100 in the money list.

A three-putt at the last cost Ramsay £100,000 in prize money but the Aberdonian refused to be downbeat.

“The goal at the start of the week was to try to win the tournament or at least finish in the top ten because I knew that would secure my card and there’s no better place than St Andrews to do that,” said Ramsay.

“It’s a massive weight off my shoulders to get my card and I’m confident if I play as I have here I can be up towards the top of leaderboards.

“Hopefully this is the start of things to come for me – I want to be competing for titles.”
