Ramsay bounces back from Open heartache

Richie Ramsay is making good on his promise to come back fighting after his Open disappointment with a three-under par opening round at the Swedish Masters in Malmo.

The 26-year-old endured a torrid couple of days at Turnberry with an opening round of 77 followed by a 72 as he finished nine-over for the tournament.

The former US Amateur champion is three shots behind overnight leader Lee Slattery in Sweden and is determined to lay his Turnberry ghosts to rest.

He said: "After the excitement of making Turnberry I was really disappointed with the way I played in the first round, the conditions were great and I had a shocker.

"The second round was much better, two over was a decent return in the conditions and it could have easily been one or two under.

"I just need to crack on and I need to get a good week under my bel, I've made a good start but a couple of top ten finishes before the break would do the world of good."
