Queen the top Scot

Clare Queen was top Scot as Swede Emma Zackrisson fired a final round 71 to claim her first Ladies' European Tour title at the Spanish Open played over the Panoramica Country Club in Castellon.

The Carrick's Queen was in the top 20 at halfway, but she dropped down to a tie for 30th on five over par after a final round 74. Archerfield's Lynn Kenny improved in every round and she closed with a 72 to tie for 38th place on seven over.

With a seven under par total, it was a comfortable four shots win for 29-year-old Zackrisson, whose previous best finish was a second place in the 2004 Central European Open in Hungary.

Four ahead going into the final day, she was pegged back to just two shots in front after a bogey at the 13th. But birdies at the 16th and 18th restored the four stroke margin and she collected the £30,000 first prize ahead over Italy's Diana Luna (69) and two Australians, Joanne Mills (71) and last year's winner, Nicki Garrett (69).
