Queen jumping at chance to establish herself
Scotland's Clare Queen is relishing another chance to get into the title hunt in Turkey this week after tying for sixth place in the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies' Scottish Open won by France's Gwladys Nocera at the Carrick, Loch Lomond.
In her third season on the European Tour, Queen sht a final day 70 to match her best result and is now looking forward to setting up more chances of a breakthrough win.
"This is a great start to the season," said the Coatbrdge 25-year-old. "I played solid golf and it was a good experience. I felt I coped pretty well with the pressures.
"The support was great. I had lots of family and friends in the crowd and it was lovely to be playing at home.
"Now I'm really looking forward to the next few weeks. We've got a long run of tournaments and I want to get into contention more often."
Next year, the tournament could be moved to a later date. The idea is to find a time in the calendar that would make sure the presence of Scotland's US Tour pair - Catriona Matthew and Janice Moodie.
North Berwick's Matthew, who had Visa issues this year, would certainly love to be in the field in 2009. "I was really sorry that I couldn't make it this time," said the Scottish No.1, who was playing in Oklahoma. "I really enjoyed the Scottish Open last year. If it is a suitable date, I'll certainly play next year."
