Professional challenge for teenage duo

Curtis Cup player Carly Booth (Comrie) and Roseanne Niven (Crieff) are the two Scottish amateurs set to test their games against the professionals at this week's Ladies' English Open at The Oxfordshire.

Booth, 16, was the top amateur at last year's Ladies' Scottish Open when she tied for 13th at the Carrick at Loch Lomond.

For 19-year-old Niven, a student at University in America, it is a first Tour event. But she earned her place having reached the semi-finals of last month's British Open Amateur at North Berwick.

Both teenagers have been invited to compete in the 54-hole tournament, and they join the five Scottish professionals in the line-up - Kathryn Imrie, Clare Queen, Lynn Kenny, Jenna Wilson and veteran Julie Forbes, who is making her first appearance of the season.

Wales' Becky Brewerton defends the title she won at Chart Hills in Kent last year.

Meanwhile, Booth's Curtis Cup team-mate Sally Watson is making a speedy recovery from a knee operation in June.  Sally, who turns 17 on July 10th, expects to be back in action in time for the Home Internationals in mid-September.
