Pamela makes top five

Ayrshire’s Pamela Feggans produced the best result by a Scot on the Ladies’ European Tour this season after she shot a final round of one under par 71 and finished tied fifth at the Portuguese Open at Golden Eagle near Lisbon.

The 26-year-old European rookie, who competed on the US Futures Tour last year, finished on one under par. She was just two strokes behind the winner, Sweden’s Johanna Westerberg

Westerberg surged through the field with a final round 67 and then made a birdie at the firs extra hole of a sudden-death play-off to defeat Spain’s Tania Elosoqui, who had a final round 70 .

Musselburgh’s Vikki Laing was the only other Scot to make the cut, and she finished inside the top 30 on five over par following a final round of 73. Her chances of a possible top ten were all but ruined on Saturday when she ran up a ten at the second hole in her second round of 77.
