USA pro Feggans looks to join the tour in Europe
Pamela Feggans, from Patna in Ayrshire, admits she is “very nervous” about the task that she is set to face over a vital few days at La Manga in Spain.
Pamela is one of ten Scots hoping to earn the right of membership to the 2009 Ladies’ European Tour – but she has to pass two 72-hole tests to make the grade.
The pre-qualifying takes place from Wednesday to Saturday this week and only the top 60 from the 107 strong field will then go forward to next week’s final qualifying school.
A former Scottish internationalist, Pamela, 26, has played all her professional golf on the US Futures Tour, and she admitted: ”I’m so used to golf in the US that it’s going to be strange playing in Europe.
“I came home from Florida the week before Christmas and I’ve only hit about 100 balls since then. But I did see my coach – Karyn Dallas – and she gave me a lot of confidence.”
Pamela will be sharing an apartment at La Manga with her Futures Tour colleague and fellow-Scot Vikki Laing – and the other members of the strong tartan contingent are Krystle Caithness, Michele Thomson, Karyn Burns, Jocelyn Carthew, Kylie Walker and Emily Ogilvy.
Lynn Kenny and Jenna Wilson are the two Scots already into the final qualifying.
