Gary Orr claims second spot at European Open, finishing six-under par
Helensburgh's Gary Orr landed his best finish on the European Tour in four years by taking a share of second place at the European Open at the London club.
The 42-year-old finished with a one-under par 71 to finish at six under for the tournament, a shot behind winner Christian Cevaer.
The Frenchman ended with a 74 but Orr, along with England?s Steve Webster and Spain's Alvaro Quiros, could not reel him in over the closing holes.
But Orr, who picked up a cheque for almost £134,000 in Kent, had a better day than European Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie, who finished 55th after a final round 75.
Montgomerie has now failed to finish in the top ten since last July and he said: "I just wish my golf was better, I've got no confidence at all."
David Drysdale carded a 71 to finish 13th with Richie Ramsay five places further back with a total of 288, which earned the Aberdeen starlet his biggest cheque of the season, £20, 400.
