Lesley Nicholson praises troops despite Welsh defeat
Skipper Lesley Nicholson refused to point the finger of blame at her players despite Scotland throwing away a golden victory chance at the women’s home international.
Nicholson’s troops beat Ireland and England and were in a winning position heading from the final set of foursomes to the singles but Wales won the last five singles matches to snatch victory.
The Scots ended up going down to a 6-3 defeat to hand Wales the Miller Trophy at the Irvine Golf Club.
But despite watching her side press the self-destruct button Nicholson was still quick to look on the bright side.
“I’m gutted by how it finished but I’m proud of my girls for their performance over the three days,” said Nicholson.
“Wales were a very strong side, even stronger than last year.”
