Moodie in the mood
Scotland's Janice Moodie fired a great first round of six under par 66 and was just a shot off the lead at the Navistar LPGA Classic in Alabama.

A two-time winner on the LPGA Tour, Moodie is enjoying a consistent season and she had seven birdies in a round that placed her one ahead of world No.1, Lorena Ochoa.

On the Ladies' European Tour, Scottish Rookie Jenna Wilson shot rounds of 73 and 74 in the Vediorbis French Open at Arras to raise her hopes of hanging on to her 2009 Tour card.

The Strathaven golfer is outside the top 100 on the Order of Merit, but she was inside the top 40 on three over par and set to make the weekend cut. Stefania Croce led on nine under.

But not such good performances from the other two Scots. Clare Queen and Lynn Kenny both failed to survive the 36-hole axe.
