Moodie in second place in NY tournament
Scotland's Janice Moodie had four birdies and an eagle in a second round 68 and was tied for second place at the halfway stage of the Corning Country Club in New York.
Six shots off the lead after an opening 71, the Glasgow 34-year-old finished on five under par and just a stroke behind the surprise leader, Dina Ammaccapane, an American seeking a first win in 15 years on the LPGA Tour.
Moodie tied with four other players in joint second, while Turnberry's Mhairi McKay, who was fourth two years ago, added a three birdie 72 to her opening 70 and was well-placed in the top 20 on two under par.
"This is a nice parkland course and quite similar to my home course of Windyhill," said Moodie.
"This year I've had a pretty mediocre start for my standards and they way I think I should be playing. But it's nice to be here, making birdies and remembering that I can still play the game."
Starting on the back nine, Moodie birdied the 11th, 17th, second and third, while her only bogey was at the first. But the highlight was an eagle three at the long fifth where she hit a three wood second shot to three feet.
