Montgomerie keen to get the most out of Euro shop window
Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie is unconcerned about Great Britain and Ireland’s lengthy injury list ahead of this week’s Vivendi Trophy - the renamed Seve Trophy.
Britain and Ireland will go into this week's competition against Continental Europe as outsiders due to a host of high-profile absentees, including Paul Casey and Luke Donald.
But European Ryder Cup captain Montgomerie - who will be in attendance looking at candidates for his side at Celtic Manor next year – insists he will focus on those who are in action.
Montgomerie said: "You can't do anything about players who are injured and scheduling is also difficult.
"What I would rather focus on is who is there because there is an awful lot of talent in both teams.
"Also, due to players not being there, it gives an opportunity to others who otherwise might not have been involved. It is a very important four days."
