Ramsay through while Monty and Lawrie miss the cut in Italy
Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie suffered more misery on the European Tour as he missed the halfway cut at the Italian Open in Turin.
The eight-time European number one bogeyed the opening two holes as he carded a second successive 72 to crash out, just as he did in the Spanish Open a week ago.
Montgomerie, who turns 46 in a month's time, looked to have saved himself with four birdies on the back nine but he failed to get up and down from a bunker at the 17th and on the last missed the green again and left his chip 25 feet short.
"I should not be missing cuts in these tournaments," said Montgomerie, who is currently a lowly 96th on the Race To Dubai money list and down at 171st in the world.
"I came to gain on the Order of Merit and world rankings and I'm losing ground."
Argentina's Daniel Vancsik added a 65 to his opening 68 for a nine under aggregate to take a one shot lead at the midway point while Royal Aberdeen's Richie Ramsay finished with flourish to remain in contention on five under par
Aberdeen's Paul Lawrie fired four birdies in his last five holes in his second-round 67 but it still was not enough to prevent the former Open champion from missing the cut by one stroke on one over par.
The damage was done in his opening round 76 and Lawrie said: "I had a fantastic back nine. I birdied four of the last five holes and should have birdied the other one."
