Spat between Scotland's two top golfing names shows no sign of stopping
Colin Montgomerie's war of words with Sandy Lyle has rumbled on after the Ryder Cup skipper labelled Lyle's apology as 'strange'.
The incident reared its head when Lyle brought up a contentious 2005 incident where Montgomerie was believed to have taken an incorrect drop in a bunker.
Montgomerie, who pipped Lyle to the position of Europe's Ryder Cup captain for the 2010 tournament, apologised over the incident and donated his £24,000 prize money to charity.
But despite Lyle's climb down over the incident the 46-year-old insists he is not ready to kiss and make up.
"It's a rather strange apology to be honest," said Montgomerie.
"I'm just trying to compete in the Open and my preparations have been dented. I'm not very happy about that at all.
"It's nothing much to do with me at all - it's all Sandy.
"I've read it and I'm digesting it and I'll let you know when I've digested it further. I've nothing much to say."
