Michele seeks professional card

Scottish Amateur Champion Michele Thomson, one of the four Scots in this year’s Curtis Cup team, has confirmed she is going to try and join next year’s Ladies’ European Tour.

The 20-year-old will face a tough two-week test at La Manga in Spain, with the pre-qualifying starting on January 5th followed by the final qualifying from January 13th to 16th.

The mid-winter dates might not seem perfect for the Aberdeenshire-based player, but Michele is fortunate that her father, Graham, is involved in the oil industry and is based In Abu Dhabi

“I can’t wait to get to Tour School,” she said. “I’ve been practising really hard on my game with my coach, Neil Marr, and I think I’m ready to face the next test.

“The weather hasn’t been ideal in Scotland, but I’m still a member of the Scottish Amateur squad and we’ve got a week at Desert Springs in Spain in November.

“Just before Tour School, I’ll go out and spend time in Abu Dhabi. Dad lives next door to the Abu Dhabi Golf Club and they allow me to practise, which is perfect.

“New Year will be have to be put on hold but, hopefully, I’ll have plenty reason to celebrate at the end of Tour School.”
