

Michele Thomson finishes as top Scot at ABN Amro Open
Scottish rookie Michele Thomson shot a final round of 70 to finish as the top Scot and inside the top 20 at the 54-hole ABN Amro Ladies’ Open at Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
The Curtis Cup player from Ellon had a handful of birdies for an even par total and a share of 18th place in only her third outing on the Ladies’ European Tour. Spain’s Tania Elosequi took the title on nine under par after a closing 69.
Krystle Caithness (St Regulus) had a roller coaster tournament. She opened with a 68 and then just made the cut after a second day 79. But she bounced back with a last day 71 to finish on two over par and inside the top 30. Musselburgh’s Vikki Laing finished on the same mark thanks to a third round 72.
The Carrick’s Clare Queen was the leading Scot going into the final day. But the experienced player slipped to a 76 and finished on three over par.
