Megan Briggs beats Louise Kenny to win Scottish Women's Amateur Championship
Megan Briggs (Kilmalcolm) is the new Scottish Women’s Amateur Championship following a 4 and 3 win over Louise Kenney (Pitreavie) in the final at Southerness.
Megan – a cousin of Scottish badminton doubles champion Watson Briggs – was one down after two holes, but took control over her older opponent by winning four holes in a row from the fifth.
The 20-year-old Strathclyde University student has won the Renfrewshire county title for the past four years and is one of Scotland’s top prospects – she also has a younger sister, Eilidh, who is similarly on the road to success.
Louise, 26, is a primary school teacher and both have already played for Scotland at international level.
