Matthew hopes to regain form in Miami Pro-am
North Berwick's Catriona Matthew will be aiming to get her season back on track at today's inaugural Stanford International Pro-am on the LPGA Tour in Miami today.
The Scottish No.1 started the year in style with a 12th place finish in the HSBC Women's Champions in Singapore - but has missed two out of three cuts on the LPGA Tour in America.
Unfortunately, Matthew will not be returning home for next week's Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies' Scottish Open at the Carrick, Loch Lomond.
Due to visa restrictions, she could have problems getting back to the States the following week for the Michelob ULTRA Open, which is one of the biggest tournament on the LPGA Tour.
"I am really disappointed that I can't make it to Loch Lomond, but it is just bad timing," she said.
Turnberry's Mhairi McKay will be using the Miami tournament as a final warm-up for the Scottish Open - but another absentee at Loch Lomond will be Glasgow's Janice Moodie.
"I would have loved to come back, but my priority has to be the LPGA Tour," said Moodie, who is married to an American and lives in Ohio. "It's just a pity that the scheduling didn't work out."
McKay will be one of the favourites at the Carrick, and she is looking to enjoy a good confidence-boosting performance over the next four days in south Florida. It is an unusual tournament in that the first three rounds are played as a Pro-am with only Sunday's final 18 holes limited to the professionals.
