Matthew ties for tenth in LPGA Classic
North Berwick's Catriona Matthew shot a final round 69 and claimed her second top ten on the LPGA Tour this season at the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic at the Highland Meadows Golf Club in Ohio.
Scotland's No.1 didn't drop a shot and picked up birdies at the tenth and 13th in a solid round that put her on seven under par and tied for tenth in a tournament won on 16 under par by American Paula Creamer.
Glasgow's Janice Moodie, who had been in the top ten going into the final round, slipped back to one behind Matthew and was joint 13th after a 73, while Turnberry's Mhairi McKay, the third Scot to make the cut, had a dismal final day. She shot 77 and finished close the bottom of the list of qualifiers.
Creamer had opened with a super round of 60 and had led by six shots at halfway. But she closed with a 73 and won the £100,000 by just two shots from the US Solheim Cup player, Nicole Castrale, who had a best of day 64.
It was a third win of the season for 21-year-old Creamer and the seventh of her four year career on the LPGA Tour.
