Matthew is top Brit

North Berwick's Catriona Matthew will go into this week's US Women's Open as the leading Scottish hope - and she was the top Briton in finishing tied 33rd in the final warm-up at the Wegmans LPGA in Rochester, New York.

Matthew closed with a 74 for two under par and was a stroke ahead of Janice Moodie, who is the only other Scot competing in the US Open starting on Thursday at Interlachen in Minnesota. The Glasgow golfer closed with a 72.

South Korea's Eun-Hee Ji shot a final day 67 in Rochester to claim her breakthrough LPGA victory with a two shot win over Norway's world No.3, Suzann Pettersen.

Ji had seven birdies in the final round for 16-under par 272 total, while Pettersen was in second place on 14 under after a 72.
